Apple begins airing iPhone ads

iPhone ad

Apple has begun airing ads for the iPhone, with a June 29 availability date. The three ads are available on Apple’s site.

  • Never Been an iPod – This ad showcases Music, Videos, Photos, Calls.
  • How to – This one focuses on Music, Email and Web browsing.
  • Calamari – This ad segues from watching Pirates of the Caribbean to doing a local search for calamari.

The multi-touch interface and the automatically rotating screen are highlighted on all three ads, just by showing them. The phone feature comes at the end of each ad. The at&t deathstar gets flashed up momentarily before the Apple logo at the end of each ad.

The ads are more informational and decidedly less hip than most Apple ads. When you’ve got a complex message, it’s a complex sell.
