I just saw your blog in your welcome message and noticed you were looking for 1BR's. There's usually a ton of 1BR lofts near the 24th St Caltrain station. These tend to be more affordable than anything near the King St Caltrain ($3K+). I lived in great loft in the dogpatch for 2 years and while the area is still coming up (not much to walk to), it was a very convenient area.
